This Dos Pueblos coffee from Conscious featured in the RiSE coffee box in June 2023! An absolutely banging coffee and our most traceable yet!

The Coffee: Dos Pueblos

Hints of: Chocolate, Caramel and Stone Fruits

Process: Washed

Note from the roaster: “Our house blend, Dos Pueblos (two towns) combines coffees sourced through our direct producer partnerships in Peru. Our aim is to select high-quality coffees every season from the small-scale producers we are working with in order to create our go-to espresso. This iteration features a washed mixed varietal micro-lot from (father and son) Ciro and Henry Castro’s farm in the San Ignacio Province, which provides juicy stone fruit acidity and chocolate notes. It is complemented by a communal lot of washed Typica from five producers based in the Santa Teresa District, which brings caramel sweetness. The result is a perfectly balanced cup with a good body and sweetness and a long smooth finish.”

The Roaster:

Culainn and Lea are the founders of Conscious and are very passionate about their unique ethos to sourcing coffee. Their approach is to create supply chains that are sustainable, equitable and financially viable for every actor involved. In practical terms, they have set up direct relationships with Peruvian speciality coffee farmers who they hope to work with for many years to come. On their website you'll find transparent information about pricing from the farmer all the way to their warehouse, which helps educate coffee lovers about the end-to-end process of sourcing coffee. Definitely worth a read!

The coffee:

This banging house espresso is sourced directly (via direct trade) from two small scale producers in Peru. One family, the Castro family, is based in the Andes Mountains and recently transitioned from producing sugar cane spirit, to specialty coffee. The other producer is actually made up of five producers from the Santa Tera District who worked in partnership with a bee conservation NGO, Bee Cause We Care 365.

We only work with roasters who share the same ethos and ask you to get in touch if for any reason the recycling info isn't clear on a coffee bag. Our House coffee is packaged in 100% biodegradable plastic free packaging. Our Advent Calendar is 100% recycled cardboard with compostable pouches.
