Unorthodox Coffee
A Roaster We Trust
Unorthodox Roasters are based just outside of Edinburgh in Scotland, and are one of the first roasters we worked with at RISE. Their "Mindblown" coffee from Papua New Guinea was absolutely exceptional, and since then we've gone on to try many of their other coffees, such as "Pure Magic" – the coffee we're currently featuring on our online coffee shop.
Unorthodox spent over 10 months in all the major coffee producing countries in South and Central America as part of a trip in 2015 – including Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala. Upon returning, they launched Unorthodox and focus on the regions they visited and explored extensively. They now boast two coffee shops, one in Kinross and one in Stirling – do check them out the next time you're up adventuring that way. It's exactly this kind of first-hand, on-the-ground sourcing knowledge that makes Unorthodox exactly the kind of independent UK roaster we love to feature in our specialty coffee subscription boxes.
Pure Magic
Pure Magic tastes exactly as described in the name – this coffee is seriously good. With sweet butterscotch, vanilla and juicy raspberry, every cup delivers a lovely syrupy mouthfeel. This coffee can be drunk as an espresso or in any milk-based drink, but also works incredibly well with filter brew methods.
This bangin' coffee is a special treat that you won't regret buying, so treat yourself and give it a go.
Coffees like this are exactly why RISE Coffee Box exists. Every month, we blind taste 25-30 coffees from independent specialty coffee roasters across the UK – from long-standing partners like Unorthodox Roasters to standout names we've discovered along the way – and choose only the very best to feature in our coffee subscription boxes. If you love discovering new specialty coffee, sustainably sourced and roasted by people who genuinely care about where it comes from, a RISE coffee subscription is the easiest way to explore it all from home.
