We met Hundred House coffee at Nottingham coffee festival last year - we had a Rise stand next to them and their coffee was flying off the shelf! Owner and Co-founder Matthew has been roasting coffee for over 20 years, and the business prides themself on buying small lots of coffee and bringing out the best flavours they possibly can. When you buy a coffee from Hundred House you have the option to buy a piece of artwork, which funds art in schools locally.

The Coffee

We really enjoy this naturally fermented Brazilian coffee - offering sweetness but with the boozy flavours you expect from a natural coffee. The farmers who picked it are the 5th generation of farmers working in coffee; the Barbosa family has been cultivating coffee since the 1900s, when current owner, Danilo Barbosa’s, great-grandfather, Elias Barbosa purchased the farm. This coffee is "omni-roast" as are all of Hundred House Coffees, which means its high enough quality to be enjoyed with any brew method!

Brew Tips:

As a filter we've been brewing this at a 1:15 ratio at 15g of coffee to 225ml of water while as espresso we're using a recipe of 18g extracted for 30 seconds with a 36ml yield!

Delicious surprises in every box!

Rise Coffee Box has elevated my mornings. Every month, I get to explore incredible roasters and unique blends I’d never find on my own.

The quality is always top notch (and freshly roasted) and the variety keeps it exciting - the tasting notes are a thoughtful addition.

My favourite ever subscription!

If you are debating whether to commit to a new subscription, I cannot recommend Rise Coffee Box enough!! We have been subscribers since they were first founded and have never been disappointed. Every month we get to try a new delicious coffee (which we otherwise never would have found!), as well as sample a hand picked treat which is different in each box! I love the fact we get to learn something new about coffee farming and the roasters each month. Such a great and fun subscription!!
