Why Alice and Ben love it:
The Daterra Estate is a firm favourite here at RISE, and has featured in our subscription box several times. The farm is over 20 years old and was born to be a high-quality, sustainable coffee producer. In fact, Daterra was the first Brazilian coffee farm to become Rainforest Alliance certified and later the world’s first to earn the organisation’s Level A Certification for sustainability.
The name Daterra means “from the earth” which is a a perfect reflection of the farmers' deep respect for nature and careful farming practices. The estate is divided into mini-farms or “parcels,” where each plot’s variety, soil type, sun exposure and micro-climate are precisely matched to create the desired cup profile.
This coffee is naturally processed - which means the coffee cherry has been left to dry in the sun "naturally" giving the bean a boozy, fruity flavour. That, combined with the natural chocolatey flavour of the bean makes for a perfectly balanced up.
Daterra spans thousands of hectares in Brazil’s Cerrado region and dedicates over 50% of its land to conservation and natural biodiversity while operating with rigorous processing and traceability standards.
We love working with Daterra because they align with our values: exceptional flavour, consistent quality, and a genuine commitment to people and planet. If you want to taste more of this coffee, we feature it in our Trial Subscription Box - where you can get a smaller, taste sized box of our coffee before your regular subscription kicks in.
