Flying Horse Coffee
A Roaster We Trust
We love this seasonal blend from the guys at Flying Horse. Based in London, they are the only coffee producer we've come across whose coffee bags are made from sugar cane – a sustainable solution that is sure to become universally adopted in years to come. Very inspiring.
That kind of genuinely innovative approach to sustainable packaging is exactly what we look for in the independent UK roasters we feature in our specialty coffee subscription boxes. Flying Horse joins a growing list of roasters we're proud to champion through RISE.
Seasonal Espresso Blend
Ethiopia, said to be the originator of coffee, was first discovered by a farmer named Kaldi in 850 AD. The story goes that Kaldi first discovered coffee after he noticed his goats had eaten particular berries and became so energetic that they did not sleep at night. His exhilaration prompted him to bring the berries to a monk in a nearby monastery, but the monk disapproved of their use and threw them into a fire, from which an enticing aroma billowed.
The roasted beans were quickly raked from the embers, ground up and dissolved in hot water, yielding the world's first cup of coffee. This Limu coffee offers sweet, citrus and floral notes in the cup. It's juicy, bright and keeps you holding onto that summer feeling just a little bit longer.
The Flying Horse seasonal espresso blend changes often, but every time we try it we love it so much.
Coffees like this are exactly why RISE Coffee Box exists. Every month, we blind taste 25-30 coffees from independent specialty coffee roasters across the UK – from sustainability-focused names like Flying Horse to standout roasters we've discovered along the way – and choose only the very best to feature in our coffee subscription boxes. If you love discovering new specialty coffee, sustainably sourced and roasted by people who genuinely care about where it comes from, a RISE coffee subscription is the easiest way to explore it all from home.
