Day 15: Colombia Nariño – Advent Calendar Reveal
Origin: Colombia
Location: Nariño
Altitude: 1,800 -2,300 masl
Tasting notes: Blackberry, Nectarine, Caramel
Why Alice and Ben love it: This classic Colombian coffee is a real all-rounder. It’s grown very high up in the volcanic mountains of Nariño, giving it a naturally smooth taste with fruity undertones that shine through however you brew it.
Nariño sits in southwest Colombia, near the border with Ecuador, and is one of the highest coffee-growing regions in the world! Some farms climb to 2,300 metres above sea level, where the air thins, the mist gathers, and coffee is quite literally grown in the clouds! The rich volcanic soil and sunny mountain slopes make it an ideal place for growing top-quality coffee.
Most of the farms here are small, family-run, with producers carefully hand-picking and processing their own coffee at home. The unique climate means the beans dry slowly and evenly, locking in their sweetness and flavour. The result? A delicious, easy-drinking Colombian coffee that’s full of character and perfect for everyday enjoyment.
